Transition
KS2-KS3
With the Media Literacy curriculum being in its first year of implementation, the Media department is currently developing links with our feeder Primaries, with the aim of introducing activities, workshops and forums to improve the Media Literacy skills of Key Stage 2 students and offer support to their parents. We also provide information relating to online safety and wellbeing to new Y7 students and their parents at the Y7 welcome evening. Our KS3 Media Literacy curriculum helps students develop key skills in understanding online media and safely navigating online media platforms, exploring areas which are developed further at KS4.
KS4-KS5 and beyond
The BTEC Tech Award in Creative Media Production Level 1/2 is equivalent to a GCSE qualification and can lead directly to the study of a Level 3 BTEC, or A Level in Media Studies, depending on student preference. We have links at several successful colleges around the area, all of which have thriving Media departments. Our Gateway Curriculum develops skills explored in KS3 as well as introducing a more practical element necessary for KS4. We also nurture students' ability to analyse and evaluate all forms of media, challenging their critical thinking skills in order to prepare them for college and beyond.Â
